DARK ARISEN · QUEST ACCESS

Dark Arisen DLC not showing? Check these three things.

If Dark Arisen is missing in Dragon’s Dogma 2, check expansion installation, your current story stage, and Brant’s nighttime conversation in that order. A changed title screen or a high character level does not establish that every requirement is satisfied. Preserve your current playthrough while you identify which check fails.

1. Check the expansion itself

Close the game before checking pending downloads. Look for the expansion by name, rather than treating a base-game update or a cosmetic pack as proof of ownership. Keep a screenshot of what the platform lists as owned and installed; this will make an unresolved support request much more useful.

Steam

Open Library, right-click Dragon’s Dogma 2, choose Properties → DLC, and inspect the expansion’s installation status. Steam also provides a “Manage My DLC” entry on the library page. These are Valve’s documented ways to inspect owned and installed DLC [1]. Finish the relevant download before checking Brant again. If the expansion is absent from your account’s list, resolve that purchase issue first.

PlayStation 5

Use Game Library → Your collection → Dragon’s Dogma 2 → Add-Ons and check the purchased expansion’s download state. For disc copies, confirm that the disc and account regions match. Then restart the console; if entitlement still appears wrong, follow the license-restoration step in PlayStation’s add-on troubleshooting guide [2]. Reinstallation appears later in Sony’s sequence, after the simpler checks.

Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2

On Xbox, check your purchasing account and the game’s add-on management screen for the owned expansion and incomplete downloads. We have not confirmed a DD2-specific Xbox fix from the reports reviewed here. On Switch 2, follow Nintendo’s missing-content guidance [3] to locate purchases on the correct Nintendo Account. Its account and redownload checks address missing content; they do not prove that a particular Brant quest state is fixed.

2. Distinguish greetings from missing quest topics

At Vernworth’s Stardrop Inn, speak with Brant after dark. If you are still completing his introduction, finish the conversation associated with Seat of the Sovran, follow him to the back table when prompted, and talk again. The illustrated AllThingsHow menu walkthrough [4] shows that sequence and the hold-to-talk prompt; this detail is single-source here. Follow your platform’s displayed interaction control, not a PC key copied into a console guide.

Once the menu is available, the two relevant topics are “About the new Arisen…” for Chilling Tidings and “About the uncovered ruins…” for Lost Rites. Sean Martin’s October 8 walkthrough [5] shows the two choices. If Chilling Tidings is already in your journal, follow its current objective instead of trying to obtain the same conversation again.

Record what Brant actually does. “Not in the tavern,” “repeats greetings,” “will not move,” and “has normal quests but no DLC option” describe different failures. Do not advance an unrelated major quest solely because another player speculates that it might unlock the expansion.

3. Check the Unmoored World before restarting

The reviewed PC Gamer guide [5] says the DLC cannot be entered from the Unmoored World and requires a New Game Plus cycle. It also warns that starting that new cycle makes the current playthrough unavailable. Treat that as a progression decision, not an installation repair. Confirm your world state and read the game’s warning before accepting any restart.

What the player reports actually establish

  • In the Brant-no-quest thread [6], the original poster was level 51 at Halls of the First Dawn with expansion wording on the title screen. Another commenter had installed content but could not find Brant at night. Neither observation proves a universal install failure.
  • In the missing-DLC thread [7], a PS5 player reported success after reinstalling and launching through the store. That is one reported success involving multiple changes; the original poster only confirmed their platform, not that the procedure worked for them.
  • In another captured view of the Brant thread, u/tekniklr reported that saving, exiting to the title menu and loading again let Brant move to the back room and offer new dialogue. This is one report for that specific NPC state, not a general fix for missing ownership or endgame restrictions.

These reports were reviewed on October 14, 2026. Relative timestamps varied across cached pages, so they are not a precise incident timeline or a measured success rate. If installation is confirmed and the relevant story conversation still fails, send your platform, edition, current quest names, Brant-menu screenshot and attempted checks to Capcom support (external). No save deletion is required to collect that evidence.

Common questions

Does a high level unlock the DLC dialogue?

Level alone does not establish installation or story eligibility. Check the expansion’s installation entry, your world state and Brant’s full conversation.

Should I start New Game Plus to fix missing DLC?

Only consider a new cycle once you have confirmed that the Unmoored World restriction applies. Starting a new playthrough is not an installation repair.

Does the title screen prove the DLC is working?

It is a clue, not a complete test. The reviewed player reports include missing dialogue despite expansion wording on the title screen.
